Where does he go...?

With all the river flooding, Dave has been spending ALOT of time at work...the boys ask why he leaves so early and comes home late more days than not. I have tried to explain it to them, we drive over the river to show them but I don't think they get it, in fact I was starting to struggle a little with it myself as it seemed that no matter how many hours he put it, the results were the same everyday...water up...levees breeched...people's lives devestated. That was until I saw the behind the scenes stuff...

The grassy area in the ledt(with the trail on it) is the levy to the right is the river way out of its banks and in the distance on the right is Dave's worst nightmare the ground water coming up under the levy ie. with water on the "dry" side of the levy they are at increased risk of failure

Playground equipment the boys used to play on that had 3 decks

Miller's Landing Trail head

With a little lot of help from the US military the plant is better protected from the creek

Apparently this was a manhole that was dry 2 days ago but the river started coming back up through it even after they closed the gate so they had to try and sandbag it to protect the plant from flooding

Exiting the plant onto the levy that follows the papio/missouri

I couldn't even begin to tell you how many and how far

Where the papio creek meets the Missouri is normally behind the trees

Dave's Family cabin...the bottom of the windows are about chin height on me and the water is a lttle bit above that from what we could tell

The way back right in front of the grass is the main channel of the Missouri, this used to be a road for boat access that you cannot even see anymore
